Diagram 1 shows a logical of a project that I worked on to bring the IVR structure front end to behind the PBX for call center integration. Limitations in Conversant V8 forced me into this architecture change. The back end mainframe connectivity remained unchanged. For high call volumes, it's better to front end the PBX with the IVR and today's Avaya IR and Avaya Voice Portal allow a mixture of TDM and IP trunking to be used. Conversant 8 did not allow this so trunking limitations for this older IVR platform usually force a Call center integration into the Line Side DS1 configuration.
